TUESDAY 7 MAY 2019

By 2051, there will be over 1.14 million people aged 65 years and over in New Zealand. How will we cope with this rising “silver tsunami?”

Challenging the Norm is a one-day event which brings together some the greatest minds in the Aged Care industry, to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing elderly care in New Zealand and explore solutions to prevent this looming crisis.

With an impressive line-up of international and national guest speakers, including Global Moving and Handling expert Deborah Harrison, attendees will learn how the world is grappling with some of the key challenges being presented by our increasingly aging population and explore “new norms” we can implement, which will help raise the quality of care in New Zealand.

We'll explore how to:

  • Reduce the risks associated with moving and handing people
Learn how global Moving and Handling practices like single-handed care, are helping to create safer working environments. Deborah will share some practical steps for implementing change in your organisation.

  • The future of Aged Care: How tech is transforming care as we know it
We'll reimagine the future of care with Dr. Lance O’Sullivan. We'll examine emerging healthcare technologies which have the power to transform our existing models of care.

  • The value of effective asset management systems
Faced with increasing pressure to meet stringent compliance and regulatory measures, Aged Care providers are required to take a proactive approach to manage assets. Jack Crutzen will uncover some of the risks and costs associated with poor asset management and explain how Aged Care organisations can get it right.

Who should attend?

Challenging the Norm is designed for decision-makers and key influencers in the Aged Care industry who are responsible for the health, safety, and wellbeing of others. Whether you're a CEO, CFO, Regional/Facility or Clinical Manager, you'll come away with some fresh thinking to take back to your organisation.
